Visit of the Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation Oleg Safonov in Bachkovo monastery
 
Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria Nikolina Angelkova and her guest the head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation Oleg Safonov visited Bachkovo monastery on 28.01.2016. The guests got acquainted with the spiritual, cultural and historical values ​​stored in the monastery, presented to him by the Abbot arhim.Simon.
Mr. Safonov emphasized the opportunity provided by the Orthodoxy for the development of pilgrimage and cultural tourism and the important place that has Bachkovo monastery  like object kept alive the centuries-old Orthodox spiritual tradition and unique patterns of Orthodox art.
The high guests and Father Abbot discussed opportunities that cloister provided for pilgrims and tourists from Russia and ways to increase visits by citizens of the Russian Federation.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the local administration in Plovdiv’s district - the mayors of the towns of Plovdiv - Mr. Ivan Totev, Asenovgrad - Dr. Emil Karaivanov and Karlovo - Dr. Emil Kabaivanov.
