Grace of St. George the Martyr and the miraculous icons of the Virgin Mary over Bachkovo monastery onto Prepolovenie
 
To the delight of pious Orthodox Christians, this year the day of Christ's holy warrior and martyr George coincided with the pilgrimage procession held every year on the 25th day after the Passover of Christ – “Prepolvenie”, mid to the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. On this day, the miraculous icon of the Mother of God of the temple "Sv.Blagoveshtenie" in Asenovgrad is carried to Bachkovo by the grateful believers of the eparchy of that temple who was given to the town as a gift from the Holy Monastery of Bachkovo about a hundred years ago.
 
After the celebration of hierarchal St. Liturgy in the temple of the monastery in honor of the holy martyr George, led by Bishop of Mesambria Jacob and abbot of the monastery, arhim.Simon in participation with all monastic brotherhood, Right Reverend Bishop, abbot of the monastery and the brothers went to meet miraculous image of the Virgin Mary at the foot of the monastery. Group of greeters was "decorated" with the participation of society "Revival" from Plovdiv - Society for revival and keeping alive the old Bulgarian traditions. Participants were men in uniforms of Bulgarian volunteers of the war for independence 1877/78 with guns "Boylii" and women in picturesque national costumes.
 
The procession with the icon from Assenovgrad was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Plovdiv and with the participation of many soldiers who carry it on the shoulder, clergy and believers. Bishop Nicholas held a public prayer ceremony for health and blessing of the Orthodox Bulgarian people after the entry into the monastery.
 
Then the icon of the Mother of God from the town was submitted to the monastery temple to have meeting with his sister - the miraculous icon of Bachkovo monastery, where those who came for the celebration of Orthodox Christians could receive the blessing of both holy images of our heavenly Mother and Protector.
